Coney Island - Excitment she wrote!!
Today Jarrah and I headed out to Coney Island for the "Siren Music Festival" - no, this is not where sea nymphs sing their sailor-luring songs to the masses, but where bands such as Scissor Sisters and Stars played to lots of people like us: Regular people, not suffering from scurvy (although to tell you the truth, I really should be taking a vitamin supplement...what do vegetables taste like again?).
We got there a little early, so we did some wandering around the boardwalk (not under it)...

Then we went on the giant ferris wheel which gave us great views of the beach and fairground (and nearby housing projects, which must also have excellent seaside views).

Shortly after that it was time for refreshments - Corona beer and a hotdog. Mmmm. For some reason though, straight after our meal we decided it was a good idea to go on the ride seen here in the background. Operating the ride was a boy Jarrah decided would be forever known as his "carnie crush".

It was a great ride, but maybe not so good to do on a stomach full of hotdog and beer....This is us afterwards....

A little while later we were joined by Andrew and his porcelain princess (Helen, seen here smellin Jarrah's pheromones), and we consumed more hotdogs, chips and beer, and enjoyed the solid perfomance given by The Scissor Sisters. We missed out on Stars, and I'd never heard of the other bands.

And a highlight of the day was scoring several tickets to an invite only Phoenix gig (French Kicks are supporting). Sofia Coppola is having the Phoenix singer's baby, so stay tuned on August 7th for a possible celeb sighting report! I'm hoping Sofi sees me and asks me to be her new muse (or at least her new nanny?). Kirsten, Scarlett, Louisa: it's a natural progression.

Sounds good in theory, although Sofia's new muse is none other than the fabulous Rose Byrne (set to light up our screens in Marie Antoinette). Once again you have been burned by the Byrne...
