Australia Day

We went on a mini Aussie pub crawl last night, but in the subzero temperature it was more like a pub-dash. Actually the Australian bars were pretty crowded so we pitched tent at a regular bar, which coincidentally was playing Nick Cave so we still felt a little bit patriotic. After a few rounds we went to "Tuck Shop", a local Aussie cafe, for a bit of Australian tucker.

Jenny was relieved that she could finally wear her favourite outfit without looking like a weirdo. Dave is supporting her by looking like a weirdo.

Congratulations to Huong and Jeremy who are engaged. That's the only way an American could be invited to our Aussie Day celebrations, if he promised to marry one of our own.

On Friday I paid tribute to the Australian tradition - the long lunch - and met Tali for some tea and scones on the Upper East Side. American scones are different to Australian/English ones..they did have pumpkin scones on the menu but they could never be as good as my gran's so we opted for regular buttermilk. Delightful.
