Do you want some cereal with your sugar???

After a week of eating breakfast in cafes/diners (well there aren't as many diners in New York as I expected), we decided to purchase some healthy cereal. We opted for "Raisin Bran", which looks just like sultana bran...until you open the box and see the raisins are covered in SUGAR! Even a self-confessed sugar fiend like myself would find this too much.
Today we signed a lease on a really nice apartment! It's such a relief after a week of disappointing finds (the teeny tiny room in the pic above is of a different apartment we almost considered - it made me feel like Alice in Wonderland!) The apartment is in the East Village in an area Jarrah describes as his favourite. He has good taste, so I feel happy. It's on the fourth floor though, which in this city means FIVE flights of stairs. As Demetri Martin says, when you live that high up you get really good at not forgetting things when you leave the house. Plus the health benefits have to show soon, surely. We've been living on the fourth floor here for a week, but no buns of steel to speak of yet.
Now we've found a place we can relax and enjoy ourselves. I just realised that Dios Malos, an American band I quite like, are playing at a place near us tonight, and at the same place the Cat Empire are playing tomorrow. It's funny when you see an Aussie act you don't even really like back home are playing here, you get this urge to see them. I better save my pennies in case Barnsey or Farnsey ever tour here. (juuuust kidding)

Excellent! Was a bit worried you'd end up living like Dustin Hoffman in Midnight Cowboy, freezing cold and eating beans for dinner every night.
You should send us your address so every can google-earth your area. But remember that everyone can read it if you post it on the net (does New York have stalkers or is that so last season?)
Congrats on finding a place! Make sure you post some pics of it soon. 4 flights of stairs though geez! Forget buns of steel, soon you will be known as Louisa Bailey... "arse of an angel"!
Simon's comment about arses has a story behind it...just so you know he's not just being creepy. It hails back to one afternoon, viewing an ad for teenage opera singer Hayley Westenra "Voice of an Angel"...you had to be there.
